Birth Record by Transcription

For the transcription of the birth, the presence of both parents, as well as the child to be registered, is essential.

Necessary documents:

• Personal documents proving the nationality of the Angolan parent (Birth Certificate/Certificate, ID Card, Card, Passport);
• Consular registration Proof of residence; Personal documents proving the nationality of the foreign parent (Passport, Identity Card);
• Original birth certificate of the minor to be registered, preferably in international format (which includes Portuguese) and authenticated by the local authorities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country (inquire with the issuing authorities about the authentication procedure ). In the case of a certificate in a foreign language, it must be accompanied by the official translation, which must be authenticated by the local authorities.

In addition to the authentications by the issuing authorities, it is necessary to authenticate the documents by the Consular Section .

Issuance of Certificate of Matrimonial Ability

To apply for the certificate of matrimonial capacity, the presence of the betrothed is required.

Requirements:

• Consular registration;
• Birth certificate of both spouses (valid for 6 months), and respective photocopies. Certificates issued in Angola must be duly authenticated by the National Directorate of Registries and Notaries, and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The birth certificate of the foreign spouse must be officially translated into Portuguese and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the resident country;
• Personal documents of the Angolan betrothed proving nationality (Birth Certificate/Certificate, ID Card, Card, Passport);
• Personal documents of the foreign spouse (BI or passport), translated into Portuguese and authenticated;
• Proof of residence duly accompanied by its official translation into Portuguese and authenticated by the respective Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
• Angolan betrothed males must present proof of military registration;

• In addition to the authentications by the issuing authorities, it is necessary to authenticate the documents by the Consular Section

Marriage Process

The presence of the betrothed is essential.

Necessary documents:

• Original and photocopy of the Consular Registration Certificate;
• Originals of Birth Certificates updated and certified by the National Directorate of Registries and Notaries and duly authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Angola (Validity of 6 months); if one of the Nubentes is a foreigner, he must present his/her personal documents (ID or passport) duly translated into Portuguese and authenticated;
• Certificates of Residence in the area of Residence of Nubentes;
• Original and photocopies of valid Passports;
• For Nubente, regularized military status (presentation of the respective registration slip) for ages between 18 and 30 years;
• If one of the spouses is a foreigner, he/she must present the certificate of matrimonial capacity, issued by the local civil registry office or the embassy of his/her country;
• If one of the Nubentes is divorced, he/she must present the respective divorce certificate, in the absence of this, he/she can present a birth certificate in which the same was registered;
• In addition to the authentications by the issuing authorities, it is necessary to authenticate the documents by the Consular Section;

Marriage Transcript Process

For the Transcript of the marriage, the presence of both spouses is essential.

• Consular registration;
• Personal documents of Nubentes (BI or national passport);
• Angolan Citizen’s Birth Certificate with 6 months of validity. Certificates issued in Angola must be duly authenticated by the National Directorate of Registries and Notaries, and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
• Personal documents of the foreign betrothed (Birth Certificate), translated into Portuguese and authenticated by the local authorities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
• Proof of residence accompanied by the official translation into Portuguese, and authenticated by the local authorities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
• Original marriage certificate, preferably in international format (which includes the Portuguese language), authenticated by the local authorities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country;
• Document authentication by the Consular Section is required.
